Bishop Search & Nomination Committee begins work
The Search & Nomination and Standing Committees of the diocese met this past weekend at Loyola University Ecology and Retreat Center to begin the process of searching for the thirteenth bishop of the Diocese of Chicago. Joining the committees was the Rev. Kimberly S. Jackson, a church consultant who has been hired to serve as a resource and guide throughout the process.
The Standing Committee has charged the Search & Nomination Committee to present a slate of three to seven candidates to the Standing Committee in late April 2020 in preparation for the election convention. The Search & Nomination Committee will be conducting a series of listening sessions around the diocese. All are welcome and encouraged to attend to share visions and hopes for the new bishop, which will be incorporated into our diocesan profile. Look for more information in early July.
The Search & Nomination Committee has committed to a process deeply grounded in our Scriptures and common prayer. The committee asks that you hold the committee, its membership, and those who will be discerning a call to the episcopate of Chicago in prayer as well. Please visit the search and transition website for more information, and soon, more ways to be involved and share your vision for our common life as the Episcopal Church in northern and west central Illinois. If you have questions or comments at any time during this process, the Search & Nomination Committee welcomes your communication at email@example.com.
