The bishop search and transition requires the gifts, skills, and talents of many people from across the diocese. The Standing Committee forms two committees of lay leaders and clergy — the Search & Nomination Committee and the Transition Committee.

The Standing Committee is now accepting applications for lay leaders and clergy to serve on the Bishop Transition Committee. The Transition Committee helps organize several major events, along with other responsibilities. Applications must be received by October 25.

The Special Convention for the Election of the 13th Bishop of Chicago will take place June 20, 2020 at St. James Cathedral in Chicago. Clergy and lay delegates will cast ballots at the special convention in accordance with the constitution and canons of the diocese.

O God, by your grace you have called us in this Diocese to a goodly fellowship of faith. Bless our clergy, and all our people. Grant that your Word may be truly preached and truly heard, your Sacraments faithfully administered and faithfully received. By your Spirit, fashion our lives according to the example of your Son, and grant that we may show the power of your love to all among whom we live; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
