The latest Bishop Search + Transition News
Learn more about the Bishop Search + Transition
The bishop search and transition requires the gifts, skills, and talents of many people from across the diocese. The Standing Committee forms two committees of lay leaders and clergy — the Search & Nomination Committee and the Transition Committee.
The bishop search and transition is a lengthy process, beginning with the announcement of Bishop Lee’s plan to retire in August 2020 and concluding with the Ordination and Consecration of the 13th Bishop of Chicago led by Presiding Bishop Michael Curry on January 9, 2021.
The Search & Nomination Committee will spend the first several months listening to voices from across the diocese and creating a Diocesan Profile, a description of who we are, what we believe, and what we are seeking in our next bishop. The profile will be available in the fall.
